Video games are in fact effective teachers of behavior and content. Students will play them and fail again and again until they succeed. Why aren’t we harnessing the power of video games in our teaching to engage students?
Here’s an article on how violent video games can increase aggression in students. Any studies on how reading comprehension games might increase reading comprehension?
Excellent point ….. exactly where we are coming from with the edusim project as well ! .. Thanks for sharing !
I don\’t know of any studies, but I do have a few kids in my class who are constantly making connections to some of the video games they play. I know nothing of video games, but I guess one game is sort of Medieval and they have learned some unusual vocabulary from it. They were able to recognize some of the words in Jabberwocky as a result.
Now I’m curious about what the game is Jane. I had a couple of kids who played halo and grand theft auto. I didn’t know anything about them at the time. Now I know they’re very violent.
